PayPal Buttons

PayPal is an e-commerce system that enables you to advertise and sell products online without needing a merchant account. You will need an account with PayPal before you can use this feature in 350pages, but it's free and easy to set up at PayPal.com

350pages gives you three options for your PayPal buttons in the Insert New menu: Add To Cart, View Cart, and Buy Now. Add To Cart and View Cart should be used in conjunction with each other and on sites where you have several products to sell so that your users can pick out several items before going to the checkout. Buy Now is used as a single button for a single product where the product can be bought instantly without needing to go through a separate checkout.

There are three tabs – Details, Options and Paypal. Each of the PayPal buttons has attributes that need to be set and these attributes will vary with each of the buttons.

Options in the Details Tab:

Description

A short description of the item being purchased. This will show up on PayPal documents sent to you and to your customers.

Code

A short code for the item being purchased. You can use this for inventory tracking or any other purpose, or leave it blank.

Price

The price of this item in the currency you are charging in.

First item shipping

If you have set your PayPal account to allow item-based shipping costs then you can set the shipping charge for the first item in an order here.

Subsequent shipping

If you have set your PayPal account to allow item-based shipping costs then you can set the shipping charge for the second and subsequent items in an order here.

Handling

Handling charge to be applied to orders for this item, if any.

Tax

Amount of tax to be charged on this item. If you enter an amount here it will over-ride any tax calculations you have set up in your PayPal account.

Options in the Options Tab:

Include 'View Cart'

Check this option if you would like to include a View Cart button next to this Add to Cart button.

Check this option to place the View Cart button below the Add to Cart button.

Option 1 label

You can offer your customers options when they buy, e.g size or color. This cannot affect the price of the item but the information will be sent to you as part of your customers' orders. If you wish to offer your customers an option for this item, enter a short name for it here (e.g. "Color" or "Size") and then set up the options below.

Option 1 options

If you are offering your customers options for this item, by entering a label above, then you can set up the options here. If you leave this field blank then your customers will be shown a text field where they can type anything. Alternatively you can enter a list of short options for them to pick from, with commas between them, e.g. "Red,Green,Blue" or "S,M,L,XL,XXL" etc.

Option 2 label

You can offer your customers a second set of options, e.g. you may wish to offer them a choice of size as well as color. These options are set up in exactly the same way as the first set, above.

Currency

Pick a currency that your prices are specified in. Your customers will be able to pay in a different currency and a conversion will be made before you receive the money.

Options in the PayPal Tab:

No shipping

Check this option if you do not wish PayPal to request a shipping address from your customers, e.g. if you will use electronic fulfillment to supply this product.

Note label

If you would like your customers to be able to enter a special not on their order, e.g. deliver instructions, enter a label for the note field that will appear on the PayPal order page.

Black background

Check this box if you would like the PayPal order page to be presented as white text on a black background rather than black text on a white background.

Quantity field

Check this box if you would like PayPal to ask your customers how many of this item they would like to order.

Success page

Pick a page that your customers will see when they place a successful order. If you don't pick one, they will be redirected to a standard PayPal page that confirms their order.

Failure page

Pick a page that your customers will see when they fail to place a successful order because something goes wrong or because they cancelled it part way through. If you don't pick one, they will be redirected to a standard PayPal page that confirms their order.

Business

This is the email address to which PayPal payments will be sent. This must be an email address associated with your PayPal account or you won't receive payments made using this button.

You can select save at any time so we have included that option in each tab, for speed simply select save when you have finished all of your edits.

If you are happy with the PayPal button you have created, click on the Save button to apply the changes to the button on your page.
